Overview

Asphalt shingles are the most common roofing material used throughout the United States. Hicks Roofing is a GAF Master Elite certified shingle installer. Only 3% of the roofers nationwide may claim this distinction which makes Hicks Roofing one of the top shingle applicators in the nation. Below is a full list of shingle products that we install. The full residential roofing brochure from GAF is available here.

3-Tab Shingles

3-Tab shingles are the most common type of shingles. They are typically the least expensive option when it comes to shingle roofing. While the Royal Sovereign® shingle line offers value, the sacrifice is strength and longevity. As compared to architectural shingles, 3-tab shingles are much thinner, and stands up to less punishment as a result. 3-Tab shingles are most common in residential roofing in all parts of the United States, although they may also be found on commercial buildings such as apartments or churches as well. While we do not typically recommend any 3-tab shingle for a re-roofing project, the Royal Sovereign shingle is the most budget friendly and will certainly due well for more 15 years or more under normal weather conditions. They are, however, more susceptible to moderate wind and hail conditions.

Architectural Shingles

Architectural shingles may also be referred to as "Laminated" or "Dimensional" shingles. All architectural shingles provide a layered or dimensional look by laminating one layer of shingles to another layer. This provides an "architectural" appearance that has not only depth but strength.

Designer Shingles

Designer shingles are a more extravagent form of architectural shingles. They are generally much thicker, and come in a wide array of styles that simulate wood shakes, slate shingles, or other patterns which not only perform well, but also are stylistically appealing.
