Although all roofs are designed to last for a long time, they will eventually wear out and need to be replaced. Our team here at Hicks Residential Roofing understands that it can be difficult to make that judgment call, and we want to give you the tools you need to make it easier. In this article, we’ll go over a few ways to tell whether you need roofing replacement.

How to Tell If You Need Roofing Replacement

• Age- As we alluded to above, one way to determine whether you need roofing replacement is to look at the age of your current roof. For example, if your asphalt shingle roof is over 15 years old, it’s almost certainly on its last legs, and it’s probably better for you to replace it now rather than wait any longer.

• Damaged Shingles- Another sign that it’s time for roofing replacement can be found by looking at the condition of your shingles. If any shingles are missing or loose, it’s definitely time to get a new roof. In addition, if your shingles are starting to crack or curl up around the edges, then they are nearing the end of their lifespan, and it’s time to replace them.

• Damaged Ceilings or Walls- A third sign that you need roofing replacement can be found on your upper-story ceilings and walls–specifically, if these areas show signs of water damage, the most likely cause is a leaky roof, which you should definitely replace.
